Waatea603am Caro Bowl Semi Final V Royal Oak
Friday 21 November Mangere hosted Royal Oak in front of the biggest crowd seen at a Caro Bowl fixture, but sadly the reigning champions lost 2-4 to the strongest team Royal Oak could field. Mangere’s top doubles surprising lost and the bottom doubles pairing of Salema Taufa and Deanna Haami almost caused an upset losing only 7-5 in the third set. In the singles Tracey O’Connor played outstanding in thrashing Abagail Gutherie 6-0 / 6-0 and Salema Taufa battled strongly at no 4 for a good win, Kataraina Hunia was easily disposed of by Veteran Angela Swinkles at No 3, but the crucial singles match between Luci Barlow and former NZ Rep Nicola Kaiwai unfortunately went Nicola’s way over an out of sorts Luci.
The club takes this opportunity to thank Radio Waatea 603am it’s principal sponsor, team members, club members for their support and Desrae Garratt co Manager and Interclub controller for her tireless efforts in assisting the girls travel arrangements to the venues.

Salema Taufa battled hard in her bottom singles suffering cramps in her third set. Parnell's Niki Tippins disposed of Kataraina Hunia at the number 3 singles without dropping a game, giving Parnell a 6-0 win. Mangere need to improve against Royal Oak to insure a good top four placing.
